Interruption: Truth’s Elder Sister

Do you dip into the books in a holiday cottage or hotel library? I found a vindication of story-telling in  Essays by Divers Hands, XLV, published by the Royal Society of Literature, 1988.

Fiction is truth’s elder sister … it is the oldest of the arts, the mother of history, biography, philosophy … and of course, politics.

This was Rudyard Kipling, quoted by Michael Brock on page 103. I don’t know that David is taking us into party politics, but he intends to get his readers thinking with his stories. Read on!
