LIII. EXPERIENCE.
I stepped from plank to plank
So slow and cautiously;
The stars about my head I felt,
About my feet the sea.
I knew not but the next
Would be my final inch,
— This gave me that precarious gait
Some call experience.
From “Poems by Emily Dickinson, Third Series.
My apologies that today’s post slipped out yesterday. Here’s a poem from Emily Dickinson that perhaps gives some idea of being lost and in danger while fleeing from evil. ‘About my feet the sea’ is certainly relevant to those coming on small boats. Let’s pray for all those in peril on the sea and for all refugees.
More from Emily soon!
